Fast
fashion is about speed and greed of more and more. It is particularly bad for
the environment, as pressure to reduce cost and time for production leads to a
negative environmental impact, water pollution, increased use of toxic
chemicals and increasing levels of textile waste and landfills.
JaipurSe’s
“Back to the Basics” aims to revive, preserve, and grow the traditional
techniques of HandBlock printing; HandApplique and HandEmbroidery and other
Handcrafting techniques. The project will finance vocational training of women
artisans towards new skill development and offer financial support to open a
bank account for their business. We aim to generate conscious buying and
educating consumers to appreciate and value not only tradition, but also the
work of the hands.
